Executive Consultant - Fractional CFO

 About BASECAMP Consulting Group

ABOUT THE ROLE– Executive Consultant, Fractional CFO 

We’re looking for a seasoned finance executive with experience in early-mid stage CPG or inventory-based business. Above all else, you value culture and team, plus you’re in tune with what it means to be a modern CFO who is an integral part of strategy and growth, not just numbers (but also numbers).

Reporting to the COO, this role will work across clients and projects as a trusted financial advisor, delivering incredible insights and value to founders in growing organizations. From MBRs to financial models and fundraising, there’s plenty of variety and excitement in what we do.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Financial Leadership

  • Connect with Founders on vision, mission, and strategy to develop trusting relationships and support their growth
  • Own your client engagements and ensure deliverables are being met across all workstreams, including accounting
  • Manage internal communications with the BASECAMP team regarding client and project updates and mandates
  • Manage multiple teams and engagements simultaneously
  • Prepare and report project status internally and externally as needed
  • Utilize internal project management tools and processes to track tasks and ensure quality and timeliness. 
Accounting Ownership
  • Own and oversee accounting work for your clients, coordinate with accounting team as needed to be fully read in on all accounting work and results
  • Oversee month end close and reporting package for your clients
  • Provide technical accounting advisory to your clients as needed 
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Support or lead budgeting, planning, and forecasting process for clients
  • Support or lead three financial statement modeling for clients in various stages, 1-5 year models
  • Cash flow / working capital forecasting
  • Transaction support – fund raising, M&A, strategic decision making
  • Monthly reporting and insights (MBR)
  • Ad hoc financial analyses including managing and unifying data

QUALIFICATIONS 

You definitively have — 

  • Work experience in CPG
  • Concise and effective communications with finance and non-finance individuals
  • Advanced excel skills – financial modeling, pivot tables, advanced excel functions
  • Demonstrated organization and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated work ethic and an ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion
  • Deadline and detail oriented

Our ideal candidate has — 

  • Experience in client-facing roles in a fast-paced and high performing work environment
  • Academic understanding of finance and accounting
  • CPA active or inactive is a plus
  • Working understanding of corporate finance and operations
  • 12+ years relevant work experience, CPG preferred

Accounting Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE– Accounting Manager with CPG Focus 

In this full-time remote role, you will be a key team member ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping, accounting, and reporting for our clients. This is a hybrid role of bookkeeping oversight and workload management, plus client management to ensure quality, timeliness, and accuracy throughout our services. This will include workload distribution with bookkeepers, client communications, monthly close management, new client onboarding, and accounting tasks such as reconciling and posting transactions in QuickBooks, processing payroll, paying invoices, etc.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Accounting Management 

  • Lead monthly financial statement close process for our clients, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely, as well as analyzing and reviewing financial statements and variances. 
  • Manage workload delegation within existing bookkeeping team & resources. 
  • Onboard new clients using internal checklist and project management tools. 
  • Oversee team members’ work for quality and timeliness. 
  • Plan and execute accounting projects, including: historical adjustments to financial statements, conversion from cash to accrual accounting, implementing inventory management by SKU, and other projects as needed. 
Accounting Tasks 
  • Classify client QuickBooks transactions and categorization by class. 
  • Oversee inventory, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes across all clients. 
  • Prepare and record month-end journal entries with supporting documentation. 
  • Capable and willing to roll up your sleeves and perform bookkeeping tasks as needed to meet client expectations and deadlines. 
  • Utilize internal project management tools to track tasks and ensure quality and timeliness. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

You definitively have — 

  • Work experience in CPG, food or beverage preferred 
  • Experience managing a bookkeeping team 
  • Advanced excel skills – financial modeling, pivot tables, advanced excel functions 
  • Demonstrated organization and communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Ability to communicate with founders and clients in a professional manner 
  • Access to high-speed internet 
  • Demonstrated work ethic and an ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion 
  • Deadline and detail oriented 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

  • Experience in a fast-paced and high performing work environment 
  • QuickBooks ProAdvisor is a plus 
  • CPA active or inactive is a plus

Staff or Senior Accountant

ABOUT THE ROLE– Staff or Senior Accountant with CPG Focus 

In this full-time remote role, you will be a key team member of our team ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping for our clients. This will include reconciling and posting transactions in QuickBooks Online, processing invoices, reconciling payments, and supporting monthly close reporting packages and other accounting tasks.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Recording Transactions & Reconciling QuickBooks 

  • Review QuickBooks transactions and categorize them correctly. 
  • Reconcile payments with appropriate invoices in QuickBooks. 
  • Record cash deposits in QuickBooks. 
Coordination and Communication 
  • Communicate with internal team on a daily basis. 
  • Follow defined processes and schedules for completing client tasks each week. 
  • Produce reports using various systems and QuickBooks data. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

You definitively have — 

  • Must have experience categorizing transactions and reconciling payments in QuickBooks online. 
  • Experience with Excel and proficient spreadsheet operations. 
  • Open to learning new software tools and procedures as needed to perform your job. 
  • Demonstrated organization and communication skills (written and verbal). 
  • Access to high-speed internet. 
  • Demonstrated work ethic and an ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion. 
  • Deadline and detail oriented. 

Our ideal candidate has — 

  • 2+ years of QuickBooks online experience 
  • QuickBooks certification(s) preferred 
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment 
  • Work experience in CPG or Inventory-based businesses
